Los envases flexibles, debido a su peso ligero, durabilidad y calidad, se utilizan habitualmente para la protección de alimentos y bienes de consumo diario. Sin embargo, ya que los envases flexibles suelen estar hechos a base de capas de diferentes materiales plásticos, así como de aluminio y papel, tales residuos acaban en la mayoría de los casos en el vertedero o incinerados.

La tecnología que hemos desarrollado se sirve de la fibra de celulosa de los residuos de papel como fuente de refuerzo, desfibrando el papel en fibras de celulosa, para dispersar las fibras en el plástico en un solo proceso. Con esta tecnología, la fuerza tensil del plástico original puede verse incrementada hasta aproximadamente el doble de su estado original, posibilitando el uso del material regenerado en distintas aplicaciones finales.

Desde 2019, esta tecnología se ha venido usando para nuestros productos para cables y con ella se ha logrado además producir bolígrafos hechos a base de diversos envases flexibles con la cooperación de Zebra Co., Ltd, que han sido puestos en uso.

Aufgrund ihres geringen Gewichts, ihrer Dauerhaftigkeit und Qualität werden flexible Verpackungen regelmäßig für den Schutz von Lebensmitteln und Produkten des täglichen Bedarfs eingesetzt. Da flexible Verpackungen jedoch häufig aus verschiedenen Kunststoffmaterialien sowie aus Aluminium und Papier bestehen, landet dieser Abfall meistens auf der Mülldeponie oder im Verbrennungsofen.

Die von uns verwendete Technologie nutzt die Zellulosefaser von Papierabfall zur Verstärkung. Dabei wird in einem einzigen Prozess Papier in Zellulosefasern zerfasert und die Fasern werden in den Kunststoff eingearbeitet. Durch diese Technologie kann die Zugfestigkeit des ursprünglichen Kunststoffs praktisch verdoppelt werden, wodurch das recyclete Material für verschiedene Endanwendungen eingesetzt werden kann.

Diese Technologie wird seit 2019 für unsere Kabelprodukte verwendet. Des Weiteren konnten in Zusammenarbeit mit Zebra Co., Ltd, Kugelschreiber aus verschiedenen flexiblen Verpackungen hergestellt und bereits der Nutzung zugeführt werden.

Wir werden uns nicht auf die Produkte unseres Unternehmens beschränken, sondern mit allen Parteien in der Recycling-Wertschöpfungskette zusammenarbeiten, um das Anwendungsspektrum dieser Technologie auf Schreibwaren, Möbel, Elektrogeräte und Automobilteile zu erweitern. Regenerating Difficult-to-recycle Plastic Waste into Consumer Goods - Contributing to the resolution of the global plastic waste problem with Furukawa Electric's unique technology

TOKYO, JAPAN - Media OutReach - 22 January 2021 - Furukawa Electric has developed a unique technology to regenerate difficult-to-recycle plastic waste, such as Flexible packaging waste, into high strength reinforced plastic.

Flexible packaging, due to its lightweight, durability and quality, is regularly used for the protection of food and daily goods. However, since flexible packaging is often made from layers of different plastic materials, as well as Aluminium and paper, for most cases such waste ends up in landfill or incinerated.

The technology which we have developed utilizes the Cellulose Fiber of paper waste as a reinforcement source, by defibrating the paper into Cellulose fibers, and to disperse the fibers into the plastic in a single process. With this technology, the tensile strength of the original plastic can be increased up to approximately double that of its original state, allowing the regenerated material to be used for various end applications.

Since 2019, this technology has been used for our cable related products, and has further succeeded in producing ballpoint pens made from various flexible packaging with the co-operation from Zebra Co., Ltd, and have put to use.

Not limiting to our company's products, we will continue to coordinate and collaborate with all parties in the recycling value chain by expanding the range of this technology's use to include applications such as stationery, furniture, electrical appliances and automobile parts. By enhancing plastic recycling worldwide, we will contribute in solving the problem of plastic waste.

PolyU to roll out International Summer School 2021

HONG KONG SAR - Media OutReach - 22 January 2021 - The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is rolling out the International Summer School between 19 July and 16 August 2021. It is a five-week summer programme on the PolyU campus that offers an array of credit-bearing subjects and educational activities for students from different parts of the world to study, learn and explore Hong Kong. The summer programme is now open for applications until 28 February 2021. The delivery mode will be confirmed in early April 2020.

Enrol in the PolyU International Summer School 2021 to gain a rewarding and fun-filled experience.

PolyU's International Summer School offers a diversified range of intellectually stimulating subjects in three thematic academic areas, namely "Chinese Language, Culture and Society", "Design, Innovation and Technology", and "Business, Entrepreneurship and Global Leadership". Participants can earn credits by attending distinctive courses taught by PolyU professors. They can also select some interesting and experiential classes like Wine Tasting, Elementary Cantonese, Japanese Culture, Artificial Intelligence and Science Fiction.

The summer programme furthermore provides ample opportunities for the students to participate in various local field trips and cultural exchange activities like Chinese Kung Fu and calligraphy classes that enable them to discover the vibrancy and diversity of Hong Kong.

With the aim of helping the overseas participants blend into the local life and culture, PolyU has a unique Buddy Programme that matches incoming International Summer School participants with PolyU students, thus encouraging intercultural communication between PolyU students and the global community.

The PolyU Leadership Academy is also on offer from 5 June to 10 July 2021. It is a pioneering international education and exchange scheme which aims to instruct students on issues of civic responsibility and leadership through PolyU's well-structured Service-Learning programmes. 香港 - Media OutReach - 2021年1月21日 - 花旗銀行於2020年12月就去年第四季市民置業意向調查，探討新型冠狀病毒肺炎對市民置業取態的影響。調查結果顯示：

在2020年第四季，8%受訪者認為是置業好時機，數字仍比疫情前八年來為高。
在2020年第四季，17%受訪者表示有興趣置業，比例與上季相若，亦有逾32萬人於去年11月內有參觀樓盤，反映出市民的置業興趣。
於第四波疫情打擊下，受訪者對樓價仍抱有信心。逾四成市民認為未來一年樓價維持平穩，而整體看淡樓市的受訪者比例比上季亦見明顯下跌。
2020年第四季市民置業意向整體氣氛亦與上季相若。而比較2020年全年市民置業意向，認為是置業好時機的受訪者比例比疫情前持續處於較高水平，置業意欲比疫情前未見有明顯分別，而對樓價的展望則漸趨平穩。

43%受訪者預期樓價平穩發展 視為置業好時機的受訪者比例較疫情前高

2020年第四季調查結果顯示，認為現時屬好/極好的置業時機的受訪者佔8%，人數比2020年首三季輕微回落，但仍比疫情前八年來的數字為高。

在2020年第四季，17%受訪者表示有興趣置業，比例與上季持平，可見在第三波和第四波疫情中，市民的置業意欲相若。而按調查結果作推算，第四季有約32萬5千人於去年11 月內有參觀樓盤，數字雖比第三季數字近40萬人有所回落，但人數比2019年同期仍高出三成半，反映在第四波疫情中仍有不少市民抱持置業興趣，並且付諸行動搜羅合適樓盤。

於第四波疫情打擊下，逾四成市民認為未來一年樓價維持平穩，而整體看淡樓市的受訪者比例，亦由上季的43%下跌至今季的36%，反映出受訪者對樓價恢復信心。經歷較早前疫情週期性的變化，市民面對第四波疫情表現得從容淡定，未因疫情衝擊而對樓市失去信心。

是項調查為花旗銀行委託香港大學社會科學研究中心，以隨機抽樣電話訪問形式，在2020年12月訪問超過500名香港市民。自2010年開始，花旗銀行進行季度置業意向調查，以評估香港市民現時的置業情況、了解其置業的意向及對未來樓價走勢的意見。

Over 40% of respondents expect home prices to remain stable in the coming year, undeterred by the fourth wave of the COVID-19 outbreak

HONG KONG SAR - Media OutReach - 21 January 2021 - Citi Hong Kong conducted a survey in December 2020 on residential property ownership in Q4 2020, gauging the impact of COVID-19 on respondents' attitude towards residential property ownership. According to the survey results:

8% of the respondents considered it a good time to buy a home in Q4 2020, representing a number higher than that recorded in the eight years before the COVID-19 outbreak.
17% of the respondents were interested in purchasing a property in Q4 2020, with a marginal percentage change from the previous quarter, and over 320,000 members of the public had been to view show flats in November last year, reflecting interest among the public in buying a home.
Respondents remained confident about property prices, undeterred by the impact of the fourth wave of the pandemic. Over 40% of the respondents expect home prices to stay flat in the coming year, and there was a significant decline in the overall percentage of respondents holding a bearish view of the property market compared with the previous quarter.
The overall sentiment towards home ownership in Q4 2020 was relatively consistent from the previous quarter. Judging by the level of interest in property ownership throughout 2020, the percentage of respondents considering it a good time to buy a home has persistently stayed at a relatively high level compared with that seen before the outbreak, while respondents show no significant change in the interest in home ownership before and after the outbreak, amid an increasingly stable outlook for Hong Kong's property prices.

According to the survey results, 8% of the respondents considered Q4 2020 a good/excellent time to buy a home, showing a slight decline in numbers compared with the first three quarters of 2020, but still higher than the level recorded in the eight years before the pandemic outbreak.

17% of the respondents were interested in buying a home in Q4 2020, a level of interest comparable with that recorded in the previous quarter and showing little change during the third and fourth waves of the outbreak. Approximately 325,000 members of the public had gone to view a show flat in November last year, representing a decline in numbers compared with nearly 400,000 respondents in the third quarter, but still showing a 35% increase compared with the number recorded during the same period in 2019. This can be seen as reflecting an interest in buying a home despite the fourth wave of the outbreak among a significant number of citizens who were actually going house-hunting.

Over 40% of the respondents expect property prices to remain stable in the coming year despite the impact of the fourth wave of the outbreak, and the overall percentage of respondents with a bearish view on the property market has dropped from 43% in the previous quarter to 36% in this quarter, reflecting a revival of confidence in property prices among the respondents. Having witnessed the cyclical fluctuations in the COVID-19 pandemic, the public were undeterred by the fourth wave of the outbreak and stayed calm and confident in the property market despite the impact of the pandemic.

Josephine Lee, Head of Retail Bank, Citi Hong Kong, said, "The survey results show that the overall sentiment towards residential property ownership in Q4 2020 is comparable with that seen in the previous quarter. Judging by the level of interest in home ownership throughout 2020, the percentage of respondents considering it a good time to buy a home has persistently stayed at a relatively high level compared with that before the outbreak, showing no significant impact of the pandemic on residential property ownership with a significant number of citizens actually going to view a show flat. Over the past year, local citizens have gradually gotten used to the cyclical fluctuations in the pandemic, with an increasingly stable outlook for property prices. The pent-up demand for home ownership is expected to be unleashed on the prospects of an economic recovery in 2021. We suggest that interested homebuyers comprehensively assess their financial position and choose a mortgage plan that best meets their needs."

Citibank commissioned The University of Hong Kong Social Sciences Research Centre to conduct the survey, interviewing a random sample of over 500 Hong Kong respondents by phone in December 2020. Since 2010, Citibank has been conducting quarterly surveys on the Hong Kong housing market to assess the current state of home ownership in the SAR, gauge public intentions towards home ownership, and track public expectations of future housing price trends.

香港藝術中心策劃的「賽馬會『喜』動遊樂場」，由香港賽馬會慈善信託基金主要贊助、利希慎基金為策略伙伴、精神健康諮詢委員會全力支持^。項目結合本地及海外藝術家戶外大型作品、遊樂場和光影互動元素，為大人及小朋友送上一個「隨心任玩」的虛擬遊樂場（藝術展覽），以及一連串由不同界別專業人士主導的網上教育及外展活動，務求從藝術角度切入，以玩樂作為方法，與公眾一起探索無邊無際的心之國度。一系列「網上率先玩」環節及「圓桌論壇----探索藝術之於精神健康的可能性」，已於2020年11月圓滿結束；2021年1月至4月期間，推出精心打造的虛擬遊樂場（網站）、「同你傾」（網上講座）和「陪你玩」（網上玩作坊環節）等免費公眾活動，歡迎大人及小朋友踴躍參與，尋找心裡的遊樂場。

Keeping a 'the park is just around the corner' spirit is crucial to enhance our physical and mental resilience to the pandemic. Regardless of what happens, we all have a park in our heart. Jockey Club Pop-up Art Park, curated by Hong Kong Arts Centre with the support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust as Major Funder, Lee Hysan Foundation as Strategic Partner and the guidance of the Advisory Committee on Mental Health, introduces to the public a virtual art park (jcpopupartpark.hk) from now to April 16, 2021. It brings together works of art by both Hong Kong and overseas artists with elements of light and technology. Open 24 hours every day, the Art Park allows the public to experience the joyous atmosphere of park/playground at home any time. For four months in a row, the exhibition is accompanied with a series of online education and outreach programmes, including artist talks and play sessions etc. Together they invite the public to probe into the subject of mental wellness through the means of art and play.

January Highlight -- Stuart SEMPLE【Happy Cloud】

Jockey Club Pop-up Art Park kick-starts with "Happy Cloud" by "Happiness Hero" Stuart SEMPLE who comes from the United Kingdom. You can expect to see numerous giant bubbles shaped like a smiley face in the virtual park, which spread positive energy everywhere. Make a wish when you see one!

Happy Cloud is coming to the sky over Hong Kong Arts Centre / Wan Chai physically (for the first time in Hong Kong!) between 11 and 31 January 2021 (1pm-8pm). Do make a wish when you are lucky enough to see one.

Stuart SEMPLE will also engage in an online conversation with Hong Kong audience. He will express his views on art and creativity, and exchange experiences and stories with us in this intimate chit-chat.

Jockey Club Pop-up Art Park brings the Park to social media and our everyday lives by introducing four Instagram filter challenges with the themes of the four featured art pieces, including "The YOUs and MEs", "Dreams Come True Index", "When I become US" and "Carry on". Invite your friends to accept the challenges to get closer with them online-to-offline!

Online Roundtable Discussion -- Full version of "Art Power in Mental Health"

In order to explore the relationship between arts and mental health, the four participating artists and six local respondents met and discussed online. The online Roundtable Discussion concluded successfully on 20 November 2020. By generously shared their creative motivation and hands-on experiences, they not only shed light on the interconnectedness of art and mental health but also extended room for imagination and creation.

Technological advancements

The pioneering Uni-Core saves space and allows the drivers to have far more excursion than an equivalent-sized traditional force-cancelling design, unlocking more output and depth from less space. Uni-Core enables the subwoofer to deliver high performance and powerful, dynamic, accurate bass in an ultra-compact size.

The P-Flex Surround is a brand-new innovative driver surround. The engineering to better resists the acoustic pressure inside the cabinet without limiting sensitivity in the same way traditional surround designs do. To achieve this, it is uniquely pleated in such a way that is inspired by the Japanese art of paper-folding, earning itself the nickname Origami Surround. It is this meticulous design that allows the driver to move precisely as required by the audio signal. The result is a deeper bass extension and a more accurate, detailed bass reproduction and distortion reduction.

The Smart Distortion Control Technology is a sensorless, motional feedback system helps correct even the slightest abnormalities that may occur. It does this by measuring the current in the voice coil and detecting and correcting any non-linear distortions. This delivers more accurate, less coloured bass performance. The new approach reduces the interaction between signal, amplifier and driver. This, in turn, limits the distortion from these interactions resulting in a cleaner, more accurate bass performance.

The KC62's performance is finetuned further still by a bespoke selection of in-house designed DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms in the form of KEF's Music Integrity Engine. Algorithms including iBX (Intelligent Bass Extension) and SmartLimiter, which continuously analyses the signal to prevent clipping, work together to ensure the perfect relationship between all components.

The final piece of the performance puzzle is amplification, which the KC62 has in abundance. The twin drivers are powered by 1,000W RMS (2 x 500W) of specially designed Class D amplification, providing exceptional levels of control and the ability to deliver sudden bursts of power when required, for example when enjoying your favourite high-octane action sequence. With a population of 40 million, Ukraine is one of the largest European countries by population. The Eastern European country is strategically located at the crossroads of the Belt and Road between Russia and Turkey, with access to the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The enhanced rail connection would provide Asian businesses access to the Baltic States, Belarus, and the Nordic countries. Goods from neighboring countries can be consolidated in Kiev, the capital of Ukirane and sent by rail to China for onward dispatch to various Asian markets using either air or road freight.

"The memorandum between Ukrainian Railways and DHL provides for the organization of container trains, attraction of additional cargo and the geography expansion of transportation. In fact, this is a new level of cooperation and a completely different operating level of CTS Liski," said Volodymyr Zhmak, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrainian Railways.

Ukraine's trade with Asia is on the rise. China, Ukraine's top agricultural importer, consumed USD1.41 billion worth of agricultural products in the first half of 2020, and ASEAN countries have seen their imports of Ukrainian goods increase by 48% since 2016.

香港 - Media OutReach - 2021年1月20日 - 在华懋集团（下称「集团」）全力支持下，下肢瘫痪的攀石运动员黎志伟上星期六（1月16日）在集团总部、新界最高的建筑物如心广场进行城市攀登300+ 挑战。凭着一双手和无比坚强的意志，黎志伟最终完成超过250米的高度，成为首位攀爬摩天大厦的轮椅运动员。虽然受风势所阻而未能按原定计划登顶，但他藉这次壮举勉励香港人折而不挠，只要坚持信念，迎难而上，定能跨越困境。

华懋集团执行董事兼行政总裁蔡宏兴及集团执行董事兼营运总裁王弘瀚，于黎志伟开始攀爬如心广场前，亲身到场为其打气。

这项名为城市攀登 300+ 的公益创举，由Ignite Community Services主办，华懋集团作为主要合作机构全力支持，指定的受惠项目为香港大学李嘉诚医学院（港大医学院）矫形及创伤外科学系「Get Up and Walk」项目，善款将用于推展机械脚复康计划、临床服务及研究工作，以协助失去活动能力的脊髓损伤患者复健。集团除了支持是次活动的筹组工作、鼓励员工和业务伙伴捐款支持外，并承诺以配对捐款方式，捐出与筹集善款相同的金额，目标配对捐款总额为300万港元。市民可在2月6日前捐款支持，共襄善举；截至1月20 日，各界捐款额已超过300万港元；连同集团的配对捐款，目前善款已逾600万港元。

徒手攀爬大厦外墙十小时登上250米

黎志伟当日早上约十时开始攀登，他坐在轮椅上，用特别设计的攀登绳系统登上新界区最高、全港第六高的建筑物如心广场（高度约320米），攀爬主要靠他的臂力和上身力量，加上长时间在半空悬吊，是极大的体能及心理挑战。攀爬过程在网上直播，不少市民留言为黎志伟打气和喝采。最终志伟以超过十小时完成逾250米高度。

华懋集团执行董事兼行政总裁蔡宏兴、集团执行董事兼营运总裁王弘瀚、港大医学院矫形及创伤外科学系系主任及讲座教授张文智教授和负责活动受惠项目的名誉临床助理教授高日蓝医生等，皆在现场为这位生命勇士喝采和予以慰问。

遇挫折莫气馁凭信心「攀上去」

蔡宏兴表示：「黎志伟无比坚强的意志，正是香港精神的象征。藉支持今次公益创举，集团希望与志伟携手勉励港人坚毅不挠、接纳多元和共融，团结一心，迎难而上。」他重申集团自去年底重塑企业品牌后，锐意创造「Places with Heart」，在不同的业务项目创造社会价值，藉以促进伤健和长幼共融，协助弱势社群改善生活。

由于入夜后风势转强，绳索被缠，黎志伟极力尝试足足一小时仍无法向上攀升，加上气温开始下降，他亦估计到自己体温有机会急速下降。最后，大会基于安全考量，并在黎志伟的同意下，在250米左右的高度终止攀登挑战。虽然黎志伟没有到达300多米高的如心广场顶层，但相信他已经达到人生的另一个高峰！他的坚持和斗志，足以打动人心。

黎志伟坦言「有感遗憾」，因为年纪渐大，体能开始下降，未来亦未必再有机会遇到适合的大厦作攀爬；但他亦希望藉今日的经历，鼓励大家「有梦想，就要去实践，尽管你只剩下一双手。大家加油！」

呼吁市民继续捐款支持脊髓伤患者复康

他认为在市区攀爬大厦，难度和高度都比爬狮子山高出多倍，但他笑言在半空中看闹市风景的感觉很好。他亦谓自己双脚瘫痪后失去活动能力而曾经感到沮丧，庆幸得到复康专业人员的协助，能够使用机械脚锻炼而再次站起来和走路，重见希望。他亦呼吁市民捐款支持，让更多脊伤患者者及下肢行动不便人士有机会参加机械脚复康计划。

港大医学院矫形及创伤外科学系脊髓创伤治疗及复康服务项目「Get Up and Walk」的负责人高日蓝医生，感谢黎志伟、Ignite Community Services和华懋集团为项目筹款，以令服务惠及更多有需要的伤患者。他谓脊髓受伤影响的不单是一个人的人生，还牵动整个家庭。根据港大医学院的数据，香港每年约有200宗创伤性脊髓损伤新增个案，数字尚未包括脊髓肿瘤及感染等非创伤性个案。由健全突然变成失去活动能力，无论生理或心理方面都需要很长的时间去康复。计划引进的机械脚，能够比传统复康治疗更有效地训练病人缺损的肌肉及神经线，有助复健及纾缓并发症。

The Smart Urban Co-Innovation Lab, Southeast Asia's first industry-led lab focused on smart cities solutions was initiated by CapitaLand and opened on October 28, 2020 with support from the Singaporean government. Chen Zhi and Prince Group Bring the Art of Swiss Watchmaking to Cambodia

The training center gives Cambodians the opportunity to learn a new artisanal skill -- watchmaking -- and gain the necessary experience to help them in job markets in Cambodia and abroad. The training center follows the strict regulations for watchmaking outlined by regulatory bodies in Switzerland.

As a country steeped in history, Cambodia has long preserved artisanal skills for generations, with the Kingdom well-known for its ancient handwoven silk and traditional handicraft industries that boast a heritage dating back to the time of the Khmer Empire, a significance that Chen Zhi and Prince Group have always understood and appreciated.

New artisanal skills, however, need to be introduced to improve job opportunities for Cambodians, especially as the textile and garment industry, much like other sectors, has suffered greatly due to the COVID-19 pandemic with media reports indicating that more than 55,000 workers have been stranded without an income.^[1]

Many Cambodians have returned to agriculture and setup small businesses in a bid to restore balance to their lives. To that end, Chen Zhi and Prince Group have launched the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center in Phenom Penh, Cambodia to help introduce opportunities to learn new skills.

The state-of-the-art center offers a full-time, two-year course modelled on the certificate fédéral de capacité (CFC), standards for vocational training defined by the Swiss government that are widely considered the industry norm for basic watchmaking education.

As a component of Chen Zhi and Prince Group's environment, social and governance (ESG) endeavours in Cambodia, the center also offers scholarships to local students and those requiring financial assistance, ranging from a 50% subsidy of the school fees to a fully paid scholarship that includes accommodation. The first group of students have started their watchmaking journey.

Prince Group has hired world-leading watchmakers, including Maarten Pieters, a former director of Switzerland's leading watchmaking school, the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program (WOSTEP).

Furthermore, Anthony McGonigle, the center's chief instructor and one of the brothers from Ireland's most famous watchmaking family, compiled the syllabus, which encompasses lessons on the history and culture of watchmaking, as well as benchwork, including machining, micro-mechanics, and production of components like the winding stem and balance staff etc. The center also focuses on traditional artisanal skills like decoration and turning.

"I am honoured to announce the launch of the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center, Cambodia's first independent watch school. All the center's modern machinery and equipment have been imported from Switzerland, Germany and other countries," said Chairman Neak Oknha Chen Zhi of Prince Group. "We have also put together a world-class team to teach Cambodian and international students new skills that will make them competitive in job markets in Cambodia and abroad."

Last year, Prince Group lived up to its ESG responsibilities in other fields. It made several large-scale donations to help in the fight against the pandemic and assisted flood victims in Cambodia. Employment in Singapore Recovers as 40% of Companies Increase Headcount in 2021: Survey

According to the report, job creation in Singapore's technology sector is driving the uptick in employment. These sectors, in particular, remained buoyant throughout 2020, thus becoming good examples for non-technology businesses to follow suit.

2021 will see further drive to upgrade and digitise businesses where technology professionals skilled in data engineering, data visualisation, software developing and cybersecurity will see the most demand. According to the report, 80% of technology professionals state renumeration and benefits as their top consideration when accepting a job offer.

Considering the increased competition for high-potential professionals, Nilay Khandelwal advises, "Tech professionals are currently in great demand, hence it is pertinent for employers to ensure they are not a part of a talent auction process and are paying in line with market standards to attract the right talent."

As a viable option to bridge skill gaps arising from increased investment in digital tools, 20% of companies in Singapore cited prioritising short-term contractors/temporary employment in their 2021 hiring strategy. This spiked in the back end of 2020 particularly across digital, procurement and technology, since travel and borders remain closed. Employees Feel Companies Not Doing Enough to Upskill Them to Full Potential, More Can Be Done: NTUC LearningHub Survey

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - 19 January 2021 - Despite more than half of employers (52%) reporting insufficient employees with the right skill sets to achieve current business goals, not enough is being done to upskill or reskill employees. Only one third of employees (32%) agree or strongly agree that their company provide them with the right training opportunities to enhance work performance, and almost half (47%) are not confident that their current job will be able to support them in their career growth.

These are some key findings from NTUC LearningHub's (NTUC LHUB) The New Normal of Sector Skills report. The report gathered perspectives of 367 business leaders (senior managers or directors and above) and 567 full-time employees working in Singapore with the aim to assess the adequacy of training and employment opportunities for employees across six major industry clusters.

In response to the lack of training opportunities to enhance work performance, only one in four employees (27%) agree that their potential is maximised at their workplace, and a large majority of employees (71%) wish that their company provided more support to help with the upgrading of skills.

Additionally, according to employees the 'lack of initiative from a company' is one of the top reasons that they do not upskill (34%). The other reasons include lack of time for training (55%), unsure of the skills to upgrade in (42%), unsure of the types of training resources (36%), as well as not knowing where to begin (33%).

On the other hand, while majority of employers (84%) indicate that it was necessary for the employees to learn new skills due to changes brought about by COVID-19 to the business, only 65% say they have been training their employees since the pandemic hit.

Allianz Risk Barometer 2021: Covid-19 trio tops global and Asia Pacific business risks

10^th Allianz survey: Business interruption, Pandemic outbreak and Cyber incidents are the top three global business risks for 2021 -- all strongly interlinked.
Globally, Pandemic outbreak rockets to #2 from #17 and is seen as main cause of business interruption in 2021, followed by Cyber incidents. Companies look to de-risk supply chains and boost business continuity management for extreme events.
In Asia Pacific, the top three risks are mirrored although Business interruption swaps places with Cyber incidents, which ranks #1 for the second consecutive year.
Market developments (#4), Macroeconomic developments (#8) and Political violence (#10) are all rising global risks. Socioeconomic consequences of the pandemic will bring more insolvencies and likely fuel further civil unrest in 2021. Climate change falls to #9 globally but will be back on the board agenda as a priority in 2021.

JOHANNESBURG/LONDON/MUNICH/NEW YORK/PARIS/SAO PAULO/SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - 19 January 2021 - A trio of Covid-19 related risks heads up the 10^thAllianz Risk Barometer 2021, reflecting potential disruption and loss scenarios companies are facing in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Business interruption (#1 with 41% responses) and Pandemic outbreak (#2 with 40%) are this year's top global business risks with Cyber incidents (#3 with 40%) ranking a close third. The annual survey on global business risks from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) incorporates the views of 2,769 experts in 92 countries and territories, including CEOs, risk managers, brokers and insurance experts.

"The Allianz Risk Barometer 2021 is clearly dominated by the Covid-19 trio of risks. Business interruption, pandemic and cyber are strongly interlinked, demonstrating the growing vulnerabilities of our highly globalized and connected world," says Joachim Müller, CEO of AGCS. "The coronavirus pandemic is a reminder that risk management and business continuity management need to further evolve in order to help businesses prepare for, and survive, extreme events. While the pandemic continues to have a firm grip on countries around the world, we also have to ready ourselves for more frequent extreme scenarios, such as a global-scale cloud outage or cyber-attack, natural disasters driven by climate change or even another disease outbreak."

The Covid-19 crisis continues to represent an immediate threat to both individual safety and businesses, reflecting why pandemic outbreak has rocketed 15 positions up to #2 in the global rankings at the expense of other risks. Prior to 2021, it had never finished higher than #16 in 10 years of the Allianz Risk Barometer, a clearly underestimated risk. However, in 2021, it's the number one risk in 16 countries and among the three biggest risks across all continents and in 35 out of the 38 countries which qualify for a top 10 risks analysis. Japan, South Korea and Ghana are the only exceptions.

Market developments (#4 with 19%) also climbs up the global rankings of the Allianz Risk Barometer 2021, reflecting the risk of rising insolvency rates following the pandemic. According to Euler Hermes, the bulk of insolvencies will come in 2021. The trade credit insurer's global insolvency index is expected to hit a record high for bankruptcies, up 35% by the end of 2021, with top increases expected in the US, Brazil, China and core European countries. Further, Covid-19 will likely spark a period of innovation and market disruption, accelerating the adoption of technology, hastening the demise of incumbents and traditional sectors and giving rise to new competitors. Other risers include Macroeconomic developments (#8 with 13%) and Political risks and violence (#10 with 11%) which are, in large part, a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak, too. Fallers in this year's global rankings include Changes in legislation and regulation (#5 with 19%), Natural catastrophes (#6 with 17%), Fire/explosion (#7 with 16%), and Climate change (#9 with 13%), all clearly superseded by pandemic concerns.

Top Asia Pacific Risks

Similar to the global results, Cyber incidents (#1 with 41% responses), Pandemic outbreak (#2 with 39%) and Business interruption (#3 with 38%) skyrocketed to the top three business risks in Asia Pacific followed by Natural catastrophes (#4 with 27% ) rounding out the key issues in the region.

As expected, Changes in legislation and regulation (#5 with 22%) also kept its place amongst the top five Asia Pacific risks in 2021 for the third consecutive year. This was largely due to the several elections and change in leaderships that took place across the region in Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, South Korea and Malaysia, as well as the broader implications on supply chains as a result of China's trade wars and greater uncertainty brought on by governments introducing tough lock down measures.

Commenting on the Asia Pacific results Mark Mitchell, AGCS APAC Managing Director, said: "Companies and even entire sectors, have suffered large business interruption events as a result of the pandemic of 2020 and it's the largest catastrophic event to hit a modern, globalised and interconnected economy. The Pandemic has demonstrated just how vulnerable the world and businesses have become to unpredictable multi-country events and this has forever changed the risk landscape for clients and society more generally.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only changed our society, but has also fundamentally changed the way businesses operate, especially the acceleration towards greater digitalisation driven by more companies working remotely. Our hope is that businesses and clients can learn from their experiences in 2020 and make sure they have in place measures which will reduce the impact of similar events in the future."

Pandemic drives disruption -- now and in future

Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, Business interruption (BI) had already finished at the top of the global rankings of the Allianz Risk Barometer seven times and it returns to the top spot after being replaced by cyber incidents in 2020. The pandemic shows that extreme global-scale BI events are not just theoretical, but a real possibility, causing loss of revenues and disruption to production, operations and supply chains. 59% of respondents highlight the pandemic as the main cause of BI in 2021, followed by Cyber incidents (46%) and Natural catastrophes and Fire and explosion (around 30% each).

The pandemic is adding to the growing list of non-physical damage BI scenarios such as cyber or power blackouts. "The consequences of the pandemic -- wider digitalization, more remote working and the growing reliance on technology of businesses and societies -- will likely heighten BI risks in coming years," explains Philip Beblo, expert in AGCS's global Property underwriting team. "However, traditional physical risks will not disappear and must remain on the risk management agenda. Natural catastrophes, extreme weather or fire remain the main causes of BI for many industries and we continue to see a trend for larger losses over time."

In response to heightened BI vulnerabilities, many companies are aiming to build more resilient operations and to de-risk their supply chains. According to Allianz Risk Barometer respondents, improving business continuity management is the main action companies are taking (62%), followed by developing alternative or multiple suppliers (45%), investing in digital supply chains (32%) and improved supplier selection and auditing (31%). According to AGCS experts, many companies found their plans where quickly overwhelmed by the pace of the pandemic. Business continuity planning needs to become more holistic, cross-functional, and dynamic, monitor and measure emerging or extreme loss scenarios, be constantly updated and tested and embedded into an organization's strategy.

Cyber perils intensify

Cyber incidents may have slipped to #3 globally, in Asia Pacific it ranks #1 for the second consecutive year. Elsewhere in the world, it still ranks as a top three risk in many countries, including Brazil, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Spain, UK and the US. The acceleration towards greater digitalization and remote working driven by the pandemic is also further intensifying IT vulnerabilities. At the peak of the first wave of lockdowns in April 2020, the FBI reported a 300% increase in incidents alone, while cyber crime is now estimated to cost the global economy over $1trn, up 50% from two years ago. Already high in frequency, ransomware incidents are becoming more damaging, increasingly targeting large companies with sophisticated attacks and hefty extortion demands, as highlighted in the recent AGCS cyber risk trends report.

"Covid-19 has shown how quickly cybercriminals are able to adapt and the digitalization surge driven by the pandemic has created opportunities for intrusions with new cyber loss scenarios constantly emerging," says Catharina Richter, Global Head of the Allianz Cyber Center of Competence at AGCS. "Attackers are innovating using automated scanning to identify security gaps, attacking poorly secured routers or even using 'deepfakes' -- realistic media content modified or falsified by artificial intelligence. At the same time, data protection and privacy regulation and fines for data breaches continue their upward trend."

Risers and fallers

Macroeconomic developments is up to #8 globally and Political risks and violence (#10) returns to the global top 10 for the first time since 2018, reflecting the fact that civil unrest, protests and riots now challenge terrorism as the main exposure for companies. The number, scale and duration of many recent events, including Black Lives Matter protests, anti-lockdown demonstrations, Hong Kong riots and unrest around the US presidential election, have been exceptional. As the socioeconomic fallout from Covid-19 mounts, further political and social unrest is likely, with many countries expected to experience an increase in activity in 2021 and beyond, particularly in Europe and the Americas.

Changes in legislation and regulation drops from the Global ranking from #3 to #5 year-on-year. "The pandemic may have caused some delays of the regulatory train, but it did not stop or even derail it. Quite the opposite, 2021 promises to become a very busy year in terms of new legislation and regulation, particularly in the areas of data and sustainability," predicts Ludovic Subran, Chief Economist at Allianz. Natural catastrophes falls to #6 from #4 in the global rankings, reflecting the fact that although aggregated losses from multiple smaller events such as wildfires or tornadoes still led to widespread devastation and considerable insured losses in 2020, it was also the third consecutive year without a single large event, such as Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

Climate change also falls to #9 globally. However, the need to combat climate change remains as high as ever, given 2020 was the joint hottest year ever recorded. "With the vaccination campaign coming into effect, climate change will be back on the board agenda as a priority in 2021," says Michael Bruch, Global Head of ESG at AGCS. "Many companies need to adjust their business for a low-carbon world -- and risk managers need to be at the forefront of this transition."

新冠肺炎疫苗二月抵港　五項接種疫苗必需注意事項

AXA安盛一年免費「疫苗副作用保障」　靈活保障期配合香港及澳門居民接種疫苗時間表

香港 - Media OutReach - 2021年1月18日 - 近日，全球新冠肺炎確診數字出現反彈，多個地區開始為市民接種新冠肺炎疫苗以控制疫苗，而香港第四波疫苗亦反反覆覆，首批疫苗即將於下月抵港，在未來一個月，香港政府將會開展新冠疫苗注射計劃，AXA安盛醫務總監 ─ 醫療及僱員福利業務邱家駿醫生總括了五項接種疫苗注意事項，於接種疫苗前做足準備。

第一，留意自己有沒有什麼過敏。如果有，應當把過敏史記錄清楚並帶去接種中心。首先必須說明，不是所有的過敏都不能夠打新冠疫苗，但是如果你有清楚的紀錄，醫護人員就更能準確能幫你做出一個適當的評估。

第二， 準備自己或親人現正服用什麼藥物的清單，特別是留意有沒有薄血藥。再一次聲明，不是說服用薄血藥就一定不能打新冠疫苗，但由於新冠疫苗是採取肌肉注射，因此如使用例如華法林 (warfarin) 一類的薄血藥，在接種時就需加陪小心。如果你能夠在接種前把藥物紀錄交予醫護人員，他們就會知道如何處理。

第三，儘量不要在接種新冠疫苗的同時期接種其他疫苗。雖然現在沒有明確醫學證據說明不應該這樣做，但是如果在同期間接種兩款疫苗，一旦出現副作用或副作用就很難知道到底是哪一種疫苗產生的問題。特別現在是流感時節，如果還沒有打流感疫苗的就應盡快接種，好使與遲些時接種新冠疫苗有兩星期相距時間就最理想了。

第四，在接種疫苗當日內裹應當穿短袖衣服。由於疫苗是接種在上臂的肌肉，因此如果穿長袖衣服在接種時要捲起衣袖其實是十分不方便，所以最好穿在最底層的短袖，那就方便多了。

第五，在接種日應當預留充足時間。接種疫苗雖然接種疫只是短於一分鐘的工序，但由於接種疫苗後一般都要留在接種中心或醫務所半個小時左右作觀察，加上事前核對姓名及其他個人資料等也需要時間，整個過程可能超過半個小時甚至一個小時。

AXA安盛醫務總監 ─ 醫療及僱員福利業務邱家駿醫生重申：「接種疫苗後並不等於立刻完全免疫，需要一段時間讓身體產生抗體，我們還是需要做好手衛生、帶口罩和社交距離等措施。同時，於接種疫苗後應留意個人身體狀況，如有任何不適應盡早求醫。」

香港疫苗已陸續抵港，並預料二月起開始展開讓民眾接種，為了讓大家於接種疫苗前作全面準備，AXA就為大家提供全港首創免費「疫苗副作用保障」，由即日起，所有年齡介乎18至65歲，現居於香港或澳門，並持有有效香港或澳門身份證人士，只需下載Emma by AXA手機應用程式並完成簡單登記，獲得由登記成功起為期一年的免費「疫苗副作用保障」，靈活保障期將可讓申請人按個人意願接受疫苗注射的時間表進行登記。申請人更可額外為四位65歲或以下的家庭成員（配偶或子女）進行登記。先到先得，額滿即止。

住院現金保障：若申請人於接種疫苗後14日內因接種疫苗後的不良反應（AEFI）而需入院治療， AXA安盛將會為每名合資格申請人提供每日港幣700元，最高達10日的住院現金保障。

身故恩恤金：若申請人不幸於接種疫苗後14日內因接種疫苗後的不良反應（AEFI）而致命，AXA安盛將會為每名合資格申請人提供一筆過港幣100,000元的身故恩恤金。
