HIGHLIGHTS

Thailand

- The expiration of the government's first-car buyer incentive program has continued to impact sales in the sub-compact car segment.

- Commercial vehicles, however, reported a 40.7 percent increase compared to last May. Navara sales were up 34.3 percent to 1,080 units.

Australia

Passenger vehicles led May sales with Pulsar recording 1,178 unit sales, the model's second-best sales result since its launch last August.

- Sales of SUVs and pick-up trucks decreased compared to the prior year.

Indonesia

- Grand Livina drove sales for Indonesia, with sales totaling 3,070 units for the month.

Evalia recorded 550 units of sales while March sold 670 units for the month.

Malaysia

- Edaran Tan Chong Motor's (ETCM) May sales hit an all-time monthly high of 4,540 units, a 60.7 percent increase from the prior year.

- Almera (2,270 units) and Grand Livina (790 units) were the main contributors to May sales.

"Sales in the region has been impacted by government measures," said Takayuki Kimura, Nissan regional vice president for Asia and Oceania. "However, we responded swiftly and improved month-on-month sales from April. We are going to continue introducing new products to the market, such as the all-new Grand Livina which we launched in Indonesia on May 29, so I am confident sales will rebound very soon."

Note 1: Nissan's May sales figures as above are rounded to last digit.

Note 2: Nissan's Asia region does not include Japan, mainland China and India.
